COVID protocols have been established for BUG rides by Bicycle NSW and our Ride Leaders are compliant. Rides may still be cancelled should circumstances change or as directed by Government. Check back here or on Orange Bug Facebook for updates.

 

Our event rides are about community and fun exploring all the region has to offer. Rides are free but some have optional meals or activities that come with costs.We have offerings for those wanting an easy ride around town up to longer trips around the region. This is a fantastic closed road  ride, run by Bicycle NSW, crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge and then continues through Sydney CBD and suburbs. Experienced Rider, moderate pace 80kms road. Head out of Canowindra on the Belubula Way towards Mandurama, turn left after about 18 - 22km onto Binni Creek Road, then continue for 24km to Japanese Gardens.

A few hills to start with (first 20kms) then a bit of down towards Cowra, then very flat along the river through Billimari back to Canowindra (600m of climb). Bring a picnic or have lunch at the Japanese Gardens then return on flat.

Easy to longer route options, slow pace, up to 20km. GRAVEL sections bring suitable bike

Meet in the Pioneer Brewing car park, ready to sign on and roll out by 9:30. We should return to the Brewery around 11:30.

Long (>30kms, 200m climbing) and shorter (15kms at a slower pace) ride options, the road surfaces will be bitumen and gravel roads.

Snacks provided at the end of ride (please RSVP for catering), purchase your own drinks and pies from Brewery.

All Covid safety requirements MUST be followed, no sign in, no ride, please do not attend if unwell or have been asked to isolate.

Tarana Ride , Bathurst Region

What could be more fun than a pub to pub adventure? Explore the Bathurst region by riding from the O'Connell to Tarana Pubs and return. Not for beginners this is a 60km with 1000m climbing but the scenery is rewarding. Meet at the O'Connell Pub at 9:30am located on O’Connell Rd , 18kms from Bathurst (travel through Bathurst on Mitchell Hwy to Kelso, turn right into Littlebourne Rd which becomes O'Connell Rd) All on bitumen roads. Mt Canobolas Summit to Cargo

Medium hills and dirt road- fitness required. Approx 32km

Pace  and average speed - Relaxed - Moderate – Av 10-15 kms per (2.5 -3hrs)

Type of ride and Bike – Mostly Gravel / Dirt roads, 2kms of sealed road, suitable for Gravel,  Mountain and  MTB /Gravel e-bikes

Ride Description  - The ride starts on the summit of Mt Canobolas descending to Cargo riding on unsealed fire trails through the Canobolas  State Conservation Area and Canobolas State Forest. The ride joins Cargo Rd at the junction of Edinboro Lane  for a  final 2 km on sealed roads ending at the  Cargo Inn for lunch. The Cargo Inn opens at 11.30am,, with a Bistro available from noon.

BUG ride to Patina Wines - 10 am Winter time start for Sunday 23 May to enjoy tastings and garden atmosphere. Ride from Orange Velodrome via Huntley to  Lucknow and onto Patina Wines . Snacks and tasting available. Ride length is approx 35km with some gravel road lengths. Not for beginners but great to push yourself.

Ride leader and local geologist Martin Scott will be hosting our  history/geology ride to Wentworth Mine in Lucknow.

Saturday  1st May Meet at 8;30 am at the Railway Hotel, 19 Spring St, Spring Hill. This is a loop ride to and from Lucknow for a tour of the mine and refreshments at café. $2 entry to Wentworth Main Mine 20km round trip, tarred roads, some traffic and hills. For those who want extra kms ride  you can ride from Jack Brabham park at 7:45am to meet up with the Spring Hill group.

What could be more fun than a pub to pub adventure? Explore the Bathurst region by riding from the O'Connell to Tarana Pubs and return. Not for beginners this is a 60km with 1000m climbing but the scenery is rewarding.
