UPCOMING RIDES

Our event rides are about community and fun exploring all the region has to offer. Rides are free but some have optional meals or activities that come with costs. We have offerings for those wanting an easy ride around town up to longer trips around the region. Check out our Ride Grading Guide to understand our ride descriptions.

Briefing and AGM Orange Bug

Join the Orange BUG (Bicycle User Group) at the Crown Hotel on at 6pm Wednesday 13 November for a briefing on riding improvements in Orange, the proposed Orange Region Wine Cycling Trail and our AGM. If you wish to sign up for our $10 annual membership you can also vote at our AGM. All funds support the rides and advocacy we provide to the community. Any questions email: admin@orangebugs.org

At the 6pm pre-meeting,  there will be a briefing on the 2024 activities of the BUG including the Orange Region Food and Wine trail Proposal

At the 6:30pm AGM , members will have the opportunity to: 

  • find out about Orange BUG ’s operations and finances

  • ask questions about the operations and finances of Orange BUG 

  • speak about any items on the agenda

  • vote on any resolutions proposed.

At the 6:30pm AGM, members will be asked to vote to:

  • accept the minutes of the 2023 meeting 

  • accept the annual report

  • accept the annual financial statements

  • elect Committee members 

No special resolutions will be proposed at the annual general meeting.

A reminder if you are not a financial member to renew your $10 annual membership fee through direct  deposit to the Orange Credit Union.

Easy /moderate, relaxed ride, under 25km option for extension to Clergate (extra 10kms)

Join us for a Spring Easy Social Cycle around blossoming Orange! This ride is designed for less experienced riders and those returning to cycling or anyone lacking confidence riding in a group.

These rides are about ten kilometres on bike paths and stay on flatter terrain without significant hills. Rides are at a gentle pace of 10-12 km/h. Ride length  under 25km option for extension to Clergate (extra 10kms).

Bring your camera to take some amazing spring photos too! 

All rides are conducted by an accredited social ride leader  Depending on the experience and capabilities of the group, the ride may have regrouping stops along the way.

At the end of the ride, enjoy a café stop with your fellow riders!

Milthorpe Gravel Ride 

WHEN:

Meet at the Milthorpe Railway Station

GRADE:

Easy to moderate ride, GRAVEL, 30km loop  

Join us on Sunday 22 September at Milthorpe for GRAVEL RIDE

We will looping from Milthorpe  on quiet scenic back roads.

Starting at 9am start at the Milthorpe Railway Station and ride 30km  back for coffee. Pace 15-20 km/h (gravel). This is an easy to moderate ride but not for beginners.

This ride is not suitable for road bikes, a hybrid or mountain bike is needed.

Yellow Ride Canowindra

WHEN:

9am Sunday 15 September 2024

WHERE:

Meeting at  Age of Fishers Museum, Canowindra

GRADE:

Moderate ride, 80km loop  

About 82kms, all bitumen.  

Directions; Head out of Canowindra on the Belubula Way towards Mandurama, turn Right after about 18km onto Binni Creek Road, then continue for 24km to Japanese Gardens.  Return on the back road to Billimari then on to Canowindra. 

 

A few hills to start with (first 20kms) then a bit of down towards Cowra, then very flat along the river through Billimari back to Canowindra (600m of climb). 

Lunch/takeaway at the Japanese Gardens (or whatever is open - or BYO picnic) in Cowra; return along the Rivers Road back to Canowindra.  

Don’t currently have car support, but if someone wants to come along for a drive they could use our car (auto) that can take two bikes on top and two on the rear rack .

The ride will finish around midday and we can enjoy lunch and stalls and support the Eugowra Woodfire Festival.

Starting at Railway Hotel, Spring Hill
Moderate experience ride, up to 25-40km distance. This is an enjoyable ride for road bikes with extra option to Lucknow.
We are starting out of town this week for quiet stretch of roads. All bitumen and suitable for all bikes. We loop to Forest Reefs and back and if people want to continue onto Lucknow this is an option for a longer ride. Depending on route expect to end at 10:30am- 11:30am. This week we finish in Cook Park to enjoy the Sunday food markets.

BUG Xmas Ride

WHEN:

Badlands Brewey Car Park, Sales Street

GRADE:

Short and Long Ride Options

 Be Ready to ride at 10am from the carpark in Sale Street, (opposite Neweys Dry Cleaners)

 

Rides:    Shorter - All abilities & all bikes, fun mystery ride around Orange. 15-20kms

                Longer - A Bonar/Scott mystery ride, this will involve hills and roads with more traffic on them, must be self-sufficient. 25+ kms

 

What to wear:   Dress up in all your Christmas attire! Bells encourage, tinsel will delight (keep all decoration clear of wheels and running gear)

 

Afterwards:         The 2 groups will re-group at Badlands Brewery to part take in some Christmas Cheer at approximately 12 noon, so ask your family to meet you their.

 

Food & Drinks:   Some light festive snacks will be provided by Orange Bug.  

Drinks can be purchased from Badland, there is a selection of Mayfield Soft Drinks, beer & wine.

Pizza is also available to purchase.

Spring Hill Gravel Loop

Spring Hill Railway Hotel

GRADE:

GRAVEL Ride

Moderate but relaxed ride, approx 30km. 

Start and finish at Spring Hill. Approx 30km GRAVEL RIDE- suitable for gravel or mountain bikes, all roads are open to traffic with bitumen sections on Spring Terrace, Forest Reefs and Carcoar Roads. Coffee available before and after. Don't forget a spare tube. For those who can stay on there is a Childrens Charity Rugby Event at the oval and music at the railway hotel afterwards.

We will finish at Robertson Park to cheer in the Newcrest Challenge  Riders who are doing the hard core rides around the region that morning.
